  Myth or fact
The idea that cold weather causes a cold or flu is a common myth. Many people believe it, but it is not in fact true. Write a short email to a friend or a family member telling him/her other examples of common beliefs about health that have been proven to be untrue.
Ask one of your peers to check your writing before publishing.
Hi, Weiwei:
Today I learned from my class and understand cold weather is not a reason for a cold or flu, even though many people think it is a true fact. It make me remember another fact is what people always think to eat sweet potato can cause a diabetes. It has been proven to be untrue. Because not all of sweet things or sugars can cause a diabetes. the sugar can have different kinds, but the sugar in sweet potato is not harmful for  diabetes. I am so sorry I can't tell you the more details. I only remember you like to eat sweet potato, but worry about his sweet. so I advice you to consult doctor again.
hope you have a good day.

This week, we will try to know ourselves better to be able to decide our career goals and our next steps in Canada.

Task 1:

About me: Write a short autobiography about yourself.
Express what your first language is, you former country, professional background, things that you like or dislike to do, your hobbies, and why you need to learn English.

My name is Emma. My first language is Manerain .I am a Chinese. I lived in Singapore before immigrated in Canada. In Singapore I was a part-time tuition teacher. Chinese course is very important for Singapore students to apply university. so they need many tuition teachers and my friends to encourage me to do that. I enjoyed that very much. Before 7 years ago, I was a designer for Tv program in Shanghai Television station. I don't know how to describe my job in English. I like to enjoy my family time; enjoy chatting with my best friends; like beautiful views and take pictures; like trekking and hiking; like planting and cooking; like reading and listening music etc. I study English because I try to live here like a real Canadian. I have several friends who only speak English. They are very nice to help me very much. I always imagine one day I can communicate with them easy. Another important goal is that maybe I will apply a college for me. I want to know which difference between Canada and China in education.

Task 2:

Read this short inspiration story about goals and prepare a short example of a time you have used the strategy mentioned in the story to share it with your peers. Click here for the full story.

There was a once time, I bought three potted flowers from flower fair. I prepared to lift their home. They were very heavy to me without any help. When I thought a long distance to my home I felt very tired. so I decided to set many signs too. I set three signs on my road. when I got there I would have a short rest. because that I could insisit to lift them to my small destination and refresh to insisit another one. so when I got home I felt not very difficult.

Short term goal

In our real life, we all want to achieve many things. And we have both short term goal and long term goal. What is the difference between them? Short term goals are ones that you will achieve in a day, within a week, or possibly within a few months. Long term goals usually take longer period of time: one year, five years or even ten years.
To understand the relationship of them, here I will tell you a famous story. In 1984 of the Tokyo International Marathon, one Japanese athlete Yamada unexpectedly won the world championship. When reporters asked what make him such a startling success, he said that:" Use wisdom to defeat opponent." Many people don't believe him. Marathon is the sport requires both physical strength and endurance. He said that wisdom led to his success seems reluctantly.
Two years later, in the Italian International Marathon, Yamada won the championship again. A reporter asked him:" You have won the championship again. Can you talk about your experience?" Yamada answered the reporter the same as last time:" I use wisdom to defeat opponent." Everyone was puzzled by his so-called wisdom.
Ten years later, the mystery is finally discovered. Yamada write his autobiography and he says:" Before each game, I will travel the whole route and check it carefully. I will mark some important signs alone the road, such as the first mark is a bank, the second mark is a tree, and the third mark is a red house, thus mark to the end. When the race begins, I run as fast as I can towards the first goal, the bank. When I arrive at the bank, I will strive for the second goal, the tree. I break the whole marathon route into many small goals and finish them one by one easily. At first I don't know this method and set my goal at the end of the 40 kilometers marathon. Usually I get exhausted in the first 10 kilometers because I am frighten by the remote distance."
This story gives us a lot of inspiration. You can learn a lot from it. A great dream can be achieved through many small goals. These small goals are your short term goals. Sometimes we fail not because the goal is too hard, it is that we don't break the long term goal into several small goals. So we feel thatsuccess is too far away.
Many of us will set only short term goal and ignore the long term goal. Are you busy working on many small goals and don't even have a long term goal? This will not lead you to success either. Because these small goals group together can't give you a good result. They are not relevant and can not contribute much to your future success.
Now we know the relationship between short term and long term goal. We will start from long term goal and break the long term goal into several small goals, and these small goals are our short term goals.
